Papeterie

Papeterie sets a site out like a stationery suite on book cloth. Sections sit side by side in a mosaic, and each is printed on a different fine paper: cotton card resting on a second sheet, laid paper with its faint lines, hot-pressed card inside a gold-foil hairline, handmade paper with a soft deckle, translucent vellum, silk and velvet. The textures are faint, so they read as paper rather than decoration, and the palette tints every one. Headings are set in PP Eiko's light serif, eyebrows are written in Parisienne, and photographs are prints with a narrow white border.

How does Papeterie arrange my content?

Short sections sit side by side, while longer stories and photographs span the page. Paper textures and fine foil borders give each section the feel of a printed card on a cloth backdrop.

Which color palette does Papeterie start with?

Blush. Sage and Noir keep the same papers and layout.

Can I choose which paper a section uses?

Yes. The section's palette picks it: muted is handmade paper, band is vellum, accent is silk and contrast is velvet. Default sections take turns between cotton card, laid paper and hot-pressed card.

We churn in the back room at nine, so the case is full when the door opens at noon. The milk comes from a dairy twenty minutes up the road, the strawberries from whoever had the best ones that week.

There are six stools, a window seat, and a bell by the register for when the fudge comes out of the pot. Take your time.

Every scoop comes in a cup or a waffle cone pressed that morning. A second scoop is two dollars, and any topping from the bar goes on top.

Any flavor in the case can be hand-packed into a pint while you wait. Ice cream cakes take two days: pick a flavor for each layer and we write the name in frosting.

Good to know

Do you have dairy-free flavors?

Always at least two: a sorbet and an oat-milk flavor that changes each month.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, and there is a free pup cup of plain sweet cream for them.

Can I take a pint home?

Hand-packed pints of any flavor in the case, in an insulated bag.
